Florence and Beaucaire

Florence and Beaucaire

Arrived in Florence by train and headed straight for the hotel, the hotel was lovely I had a beautiful view of the river Anno. We then headed for a walk around the city, it was quite enjoyable to see all the sights and it was a pleasant change, to see very little rubbish littering the streets. Day two we were woke up at a leisurely time of sevenish to a slightly different breakfast but delicious all the same. We then hopped on a train to Pisa. Pisa was wonderful everyone had a turn at holding the leaning tower up in the classic tourist fashion. It was interesting to see all the weird and wonderful items for sale including muskets and cross-bows. Day three and the last full day of Florence was another sight seeing day visiting places like il duomo and of course the Uffizi gallery which involved a four hour wait but it was worth it as some of the art work inside was extraordinary, I particularly liked the piece by Piero Di Cosimo, incarnation of Christ, which contained particularly vivid colours. That night we enjoyed a beautiful night view of Florence from a hill. The next morning after a rushed breakfast and scrounge for lunch we jumped on a train for Venice. Venice was amazing and as we walked out of the train station we saw an extremely cute kitten, after this delightful encounter we split up into teams and went off in search for the Rialto bridge. After the Rialto bridge we headed towards Piazza San Marco and the church of San Marco which was absolutely exquisite. We then caught a ferry and had free time afterwards where I made some clumsy purchases. After Venice we snuggled down into incredibly cosy beds onboard the overnight train.

Arrived in Dijon at about 9 or 10 in the morning and jumped on another train to Avignon where we picked up the rental cars and drove to Beaucaire. At the hotel we were put into rooms and I had a pleasant surprise when I was put in a room with only one other person, after unpacking I headed straight for the pool where we were amazed by mr B's miracle dives. We then went for a short walk to a castle but it was closed so we came back and chilled for the rest of the day, we then had a scrumptious meal consisting of quail eggs and garlic stuff for the entree a main of delicious salmon which I don't usually like but this was delicious then a desert of berry and passionfruit sorbet. The next morning I woke up and went for a swim. We then set off in our minivans to the pont du gard where we had our first first aid when jack dived head first into some rocks. We unfortunately missed out on going to a roman winery which would have been interesting, we spent the rest of the day resting by the poolside. Dinner that night was wonderful, magnificent cuisine. The next day we went to Tarascon castle which proved to be exciting as we explored the castles secrets and climbed over the roof tops. We then we then had more free time which once again involved chilling by the poolside and I enjoyed watching others back and belly flopping as they tried to do a variety of tricks. That night we had another amazing meal consisting of a serve yourself entree which had a wide variety of food, then a rabbit on noodle main which was delicious followed by a fruit salad that satisfied the taste buds. The last full day of us staying in Beaucaire meant an excursion to Orange, where we saw the magnificent theatre of Augustus where we got free audio guides, we then traveled a windy route to the arc du triomphe which was amazing also, we then once again reclined by the poolside up until dinner time where we ate a delicious salad followed by some sort of meat then a delicious ice cream for desert. This morning I woke up and had a swim and had breakfast and we are about to drive to the train station and jump on a train to Paris.
