Beaucaire for me was always going to be a highlight . I had been looking forward to a sunny, warm week in the south of France. When we got to Dijon it was raining and probably the coldest weather we had experienced the whole trip- but the free colouring-in pencils on the train to Avignon and the blistering sun and waves of heat in the air when we actually did get to Avignon made up for the merde first impression- Henry knew that it would be special. Since then we have been to les baux de Provence ( my fave place here so far), and the Pont du Gard ( I think most of the other tourists there were shocked that we went swimming in the freezing currents of the Gardon).
We have also visited some more ruins.
These excursions have all been from our superb digs at the Robinson. Some of us would probably like a little more time lying in the sun by the pool but I can't complain that it's been anything other than a laid back atmosphere here. [Jamie keay and will mckenzie are tied for the best belly flop while mr Buckingham continues to amaze all with his splashless dives.]
The food in Beaucaire is probably the highlight- we are all now used to 3 course dinners- although since we dont know what we are eating, rumours tonight that we were eating testicles ( it turned out to be suspicious rabbit) left some of us without an appetite. Breakfasts have been pure nutella gluttony, and even lunches, which cant compare to the dinners, benefit from the vast range of the hypermarché- it's gigantic.
[Nic Poulsen continues to purchase more and more Pringles and Coke in a flurry of new flavours that France has heaped upon us]
Beaucaire is the relaxing portion of the trip I think we were all looking forward to after the pace and dirtiness of Italy and Greece, and I reckon has recharged me for Paris and London to come ( hopefully some good shopping).
-sidenote-
Beaucaire has brought forth a sudden spike in both the quantity and dirtiness of jokes going around the group. Baby jokes have become popular.
Not sure where the line will be drawn...
