Brocaire

Episode 5: Relief
Join our heroes as they continue their journey north west, finally reaching a sanctuary in the small town known today as Beaucaire...

All facetiousness aside, I really am enjoying the 'cleanliness' of this part of France - the number of beggars and the density of the smoke seems to be at an all time low for this trip, and the wide walkways of Beaucaire that are flanked by pale green trees and complemented with glistening water features are quite easy on the eye.

However, some things just don't seem to change - the streets are still rampant with both faeces (of questionable species' nature) and troubled neighbourhood youth.

The transition from utilising the local public transport to hired Europcar vans (the actual Europcar company being only marginal better than their cycling team) has been... Interesting. Our van, one of three, is the only manual; so Mr Wilson has had a dual challenge of driving a Left hand drive on the right side of the road and changing gear with the right hand.
However, our van is also the only group to have purchased a 3.5mm auxiliary cable, meaning that while the other two thirds of our tour members endure endless Fun (a radio station with a massive song rotation of 5 'house music' pieces and incomprehensible gibbering in between songs), we enjoy a wide variety of artists selected by DJs Ben Lear and I.

Have fun reading the other blogs!
