Hi Everyone,
We've made it to Dubai airport in one piece; pretty nice flights on Emirates, and good food!
To post anything to the blog site, please just send it to me for now, until I work out how to open it up to everyone.
Quote so far on the trip:
Joe Bealey, as he's about to go through Auckland Airport Customs: "Well, I suppose I'm about to find out whether my mum has stitched me up …"
Meanwhile Henry Tombleson spent 14 of the 15 hours of the flight from Sydney to Dubai playing "Who wants to be a millionaire", finally conquering the game, and memorising about 50,000 questions of absolutely redundant trivia along the way. Good to see the educational programme starting already …
Henry King watched the Breaking Dawn, Part II, the last of the Twilight series; Robbie Speakman swears he saw a small tear in Henry's eye at the final credits.
And finally, it seems the Headmaster was dead right when he said that no matter where we go, someone will always recognise boys from Grammar. Well, I didn't think it would be on the first day, on the flight from Sydney to Dubai! But sure enough, woman sitting behind us asked at the end if we were from Auckand Grammar — she has a son in the fourth form. Small world …
The boys don't seem too tired yet, so I guess we got a bit of sleep despite a chorus of howling — and yes, they were for most of the way — babies.
We should be in Athens in about 10 hours, and will start with a walk around the city, and then a quick jaunt up Mt Lycobettos to see the city by night.
Catch you soon,
Warren B
