Alex Cammell

Today, we woke up at a modest time of 6:30 to pack our bags and check out of our hotel. We caught the bus and said our final goodbyes to Athens. Today consisted of visiting Corinth Canal, Ancient Corinth, Mycenae and a lot of sitting on a bus. The Corinth Canal is an impressive canal linking the Aegean Sea and Ionian Sea. The depth and size is inspiring knowing it only took one year to complete (must have had some determined slaves). During our stop there we visited a supermarket to find some tasty food for the overnight ferry and Finn Lloyd once again proved to all of us that going cheap is not always the best option. The trip to Ancient Corinth required ample amounts of imagination. There were few standing object, however, we did find out what toilets were like back then, and I would just like to say make sure the sponge is clean. The journey to Mycenae was peaceful, the countryside was beautiful and unspoiled. This ancient city has some amazing constructions that just make one think how on earth did they get that up there. We found a tunnel which everyone enjoyed going through, soon after this however, the fun started. Due to our strict timeframe and having to see everything Mycenae had to offer, we decided to start running between places and worked up quite a large sweat in the process. Greece has been amazing and I have learnt a few things: People over here are not quite as friendly and as us Kiwis, mowhawks are somehow the cool hairstyle and that six year old girls offering you flowers should not be trusted (Robbie).
